Timber dealers in Omuawga in Ikwerre local government area of Rivers State have expressed dissatisfaction over the total blackout in Omuawga community which is their business base.
In an interview in Port Harcourt, Mr Lawrence Ajuru, the Chairman of Omuawga Timber Trader association explained that electricity has been their major challenge here, for a period of one year now we have not witnessed electricity.
Most of our machines are supposed to be operated with electric but we are left with no option.
He maintained that they run 24 hours with diesel which affects their income, saying that the local government council Chairman, Mr Samuel Nwanosike has been on the matter to ensure that they are reconnected to the national grid.
The Omuawga Timber Chairman further expressed satisfaction on the level of security arrangement within their business environment, saying that they have good understanding with the security agencies around the community.
He further appealed to Rivers State Government and other cooperate organizations to consider Omuawga as an option for investment and economic development putting into consideration its strategic position.
